From your relatives in Sweden our thoughts go to Jan and the family in this sad time. We, who had the favour to meet Dean, will always remember the amazing way that he, and Jan, took care of us during our visit in USA in 2009. We have wonderful memories from that reunion. We will miss his letters and email but will always remember him with joy.

I was a deputy for the Black Hawk County sheriff's Department about the same time Dean was with Bremer County. We worked many cases together, I must say Dean was a true gentlemen and an asset to Law enforcement. I know he's in a good home and not having to battle that cancer any longer. RIP my friend until we meet again.! My condolences to the family.

We were blessed to have Dean, Jan, and Mike visit our home in Gloucester, Virginia in the summer of 2014. It was a wonderful visit.

Dean was instrumental in arranging and coordinating a tremendous family reunion in 2009, where members of the Jacobsons' from the old country (Sweden) visited and met with so many of us from all over the U.S. I'm certain I speak for all who attended when I say we are all grateful for the opportunity to meet (some for the first time ever).

Dean was my father's cousin, but I got to know him not only as family but more importantly, a friend.

Dean was a very dedicated public servant who always put the publics interest first.. His work with the Bremer County Sheriffs Office was always top notch in detail and accuracy. Deputy Jacobson was highly respected among his peers and his integrity was never questioned. You will be greatly missed my friend. Thank you for your many years of service to the county and the community!
